To continue to take the next best step forward, no matter how messy.
At the Society of Exceptional Educators,
we believe that empowering Orientation and Mobility (O&M) Specialists, Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVIs), and professionals working with the visually impaired is more than just training—
it’s about building a thriving community of passionate experts who inspire one another to achieve more.
Â
Founded on the principle of connection and collaboration, The Society of Exceptional Educators is dedicated to providing high-quality professional development through dynamic online events, engaging webinars, and supportive learning programs.
Â
We’re not just here to deliver information—we’re here to create a space where professionals can come together, share ideas, and develop practical strategies for real-world challenges.

Where it all began
Hi, I'm Kassy
M.S., TVI/COMS, Certified Yoga Teacher,
Founder of The Society of Exceptional Educators
With over 17 years of direct instruction experience as an Orientation & Mobility Specialist,
I know how hard it can be to improve the independence of students with visual impairments. Every student is so different. Their educational needs are different. And unfortunately, we aren't exactly given all of the tools in our university programs.Â
As we start to evaluate our ability to reach each learner, we can become overworked, overwhelmed, and overall stressed out.Â
Or at least, I did.Â
Â
I went from Overworked
to Overjoyed.
When I first started Allied Independence (SEE's predecessor), it was because The International O&M Online Symposium had pulled me out of my teaching rut.Â
I was finally in a community of people who understood my struggles.Â
I was finally able to share my knowledge and learn from my peers without missing work or leaving home.Â
I finally had the skills I needed to succeed. Â
Now, as a contract O&M Specialist and a single mom, I rely even more on our community + innovative strategies.
Because I'm only focusing on 21st Century ECC Strategies, my community, and efficient work-flows, I'm able to be an impactful teacher, a doting mom, and a wild single woman.Â
If your life is not full of joy, purpose, and passion, you are on the path to burning out.

A Community-Driven Approach to Professional Development
Â
where most professional development organizations make decisions solely from their board, our organization is driven by our community.Â
The Society of Exceptional Educators is a community where teachers come to share their expertise and learn from thought leaders around the world. Our community members are consulted on every major decision and even choose their own conference presenters.Â
It's a unique approach to professional development. And one that works very well.Â
TO SUM IT UP...
We will help you become a better teacher for your learners with visual impairments,
WITHOUT BURNING OUT.Â
